How do I set up Posteo on a BlackBerry?

On this page you will learn how to set up Posteo on BlackBerry devices. We provide step-by-step instructions as well as picture galleries with the required settings for email, calendar and address book. The screenshots are taken from the Z10, but should also apply for the Playbook.

In some specific instances, we get errors synchronising appointments and contacts between a BlackBerry and Posteo. If you experience problems, please contact our support.

Instructions: Setting up your email

  1. Firstly, open “Settings”.
  2. Choose “Accounts”.
  3. Tap “Advanced” (at the bottom).
  4. Choose “IMAP”.
  5. For “Username” and “Email address”, insert your email address, for “Password”, your password.
  6. For “Server Address”, please enter “posteo.de”.
  7. For “Port” enter 993 and for “Encryption”, choose TLS.
  8. For “SMTP Username” please enter your email address once again, for “SMTP Password” your password.
  9. For “Port” enter 465 and for “Encryption”, choose TLS.
  10. Choose how often you would like data to be downloaded, and from which time period.
  11. Tap “Finished”. Your Posteo account is now set up on your BlackBerry.

Visual instructions: Setting up your email

  • Open "System Settings" and tap "Accounts"
  • Tap "Advanced" (at the bottom)
  • Select "IMAP"
  • For "Username" and "Email Address" enter your email address. Enter your password, and for "Server Address", "posteo.de". Change the "Port" to "143" and for "Encryption" choose "StartTLS".
  • For "SMTP Username" enter your email address, and for "SMTP Password", your password. The "SMTP Server Address" is "posteo.de", the "SMTP Port" is "587" and for "SMTP Encryption", choose "StartTLS". To finish, tap "Done".

  1. Firstly, open “Settings”.
  2. Choose “Accounts”.
  3. Tap “Advanced” (at the bottom).
  4. Choose “CalDAV”.
  5. Insert a description.
  6. For “Username” and “Email address”, insert your email address, for “Password”, your password.
  7. For the server address, please insert “posteo.de:8443”.
  8. Choose how often the calendar should be synchronised.
  9. Tap “Done”. Your Posteo account is now set up on your BlackBerry.

  7. For the server address, please insert “posteo.de:8843”.
  8. Choose how often the address book should be synchronised.
  9. Tap “Done”. Your Posteo address book is now set up on your BlackBerry.

Known errors

Birthdays entered in the address book will not be shown in the BlackBerry calendar.

Messages in the “Drafts” folder of the BlackBerry will not be synchronised. This is a bug. Messages in the “Drafts” folder of your webmail will, on the other hand, be synchronised, and also show up in the “Drafts” folder of the BlackBerry.
