What restrictions are there on new, unpaid email accounts?

You can use your Posteo account immediately after registering – even if we have not received your payment yet.

The most important features of your account are already available to you. To protect you and other internet users from spammers and mailbox abuse, we have had to set some restrictions on new and still unpaid accounts.

The following features are not available to you until your payment has been received:

  • Address book and calendar encryption
  • Changing email domain
  • Auto reply
  • Email aliases
  • Email collectors
  • Crypto mail storage
  • Spam folder
  • Spam log
  • Adjusting storage space
  • Key management and the Posteo key directory
  • TLS-sending guarantee
  • TLS-receiving guarantee
  • Migration service
  • (Automatic) email forwarding
  • Two-factor authentication

Restrictions on sending and receiving emails:

  • Your mailbox’s storage is limited to 20 MB until payment has arrived (quota).
  • You cannot send more than 2 emails within 2 hours.
  • You can only exchange emails with support@posteo.de and abuse@posteo.de. Additionally, you can send and receive emails at your new Posteo address from your newly registered Posteo mailbox.

Once we have received your payment, all restrictions will be removed.
