How do I switch the text editor to HTML?

Would you like to change the font used in an email, highlight sections of text or insert an image? In this help article you will learn how to activate HTML mode in Posteo's webmail service in order to format emails.

Here's how you activate HTML mode when composing an email

This option is available on desktop operating systems like Windows, macOS, or Linux. If you would like to format emails on a mobile device such as a smartphone, you can activate HTML mode in Settings.

  1. Click on Compose to create a new draft email.
  2. In the Editor Type menu, select the HTML option.

Done. You have activated HTML mode. For information on how to format the text of your email in HTML mode, see this help article.

Here's how you activate HTML mode for all new email drafts

Would you like HTML mode to be your default setting for composing emails? You can also activate HTML mode permanently. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Open your Settings.
  2. Click on Preferences.
  3. Open the Composing Messages menu.
  4. In the menu marked Compose HTML messages, select the always option.

Done. From now on you will automatically compose new emails in HTML format.

If you select the option on reply to HTML message only or on forward or reply to HTML message, the HTML option will be activated automatically only when you reply to or forward formatted emails. New draft emails will still be in plain text.
