In this help article you will learn how to transfer calendars to Posteo. One option for importing calendars is to use the Posteo migration service. This can be done easily with the following providers: Gmx, Web.de, Aol and iCloud.

You can manually transfer calendars to Posteo from other providers. Manually importing also lends itself for transferring single or recurring events to Posteo.

How to import a calendar with the Posteo migration service

First, log in to Posteo. After logging in, follow these steps:

1. Open Settings.
2. Click on My account.
3. Open the menu item Posteo migration service.

4. Click on Continue to the Posteo migration service.

5. Enter the email address and when applicable the corresponding password for your previous email account.
6. Click on Proceed to folder selection.

7. Activate the option for importing calendars by clicking on Calendar.
8. Select the calendar that you would like to import.
9. Select a target calendar such as the Standardkalender.
   Please note: The migration service copies all events to this target calendar. If you want to move multiple calendars, please note the instructions in the section How to copy multiple calendars automatically to Posteo further below.
10. Click on Copy selected calendars to Posteo.

How to automatically transfer multiple calendars to Posteo

Do you use multiple calendars and would like to retain the structure of your calendars with Posteo? Here’s how you can transfer the structure of your calendars to Posteo:

1. For each calendar, create a corresponding calendar at Posteo.
   You can learn how to create additional calendars at Posteo here.
2. Follow the instructions in the section How to import a calendar with the Posteo migration service. Important: Select a corresponding target calendar at Posteo for each calendar.
3. Repeat step 2 until all calendars have been copied into the corresponding calendar at Posteo.

How to manually import a calendar file

Is the automatic calendar import feature not available for your previous provider? Then you can transfer your calendar in the .ics file format to Posteo. To import a calendar file, first log in to your Posteo account. Afterwards, follow these steps:

1. Open the Calendar.
2. Click on Import.
3. Click on Choose File and select a calendar file from your hard drive.
   Please note: The import feature of Posteo webmail imports all events in the standard calendar (Standardkalender). You can learn how to import events to different calendars in the section How to manually import multiple calendars to Posteo.
4. Begin importing by clicking on Save.

That’s it! You have transferred the calendar file to Posteo.

How to import a calendar file with a calendar program

Would you like to import a calendar to Posteo with the help of Thunderbird? To do so, first set up your Posteo calendar in Thunderbird. Afterwards, follow these steps:

1. Click on the sandwich button in the upper right.
2. Select Events and Tasks.
3. Click on Import.

4. Select the calendar file that you would like to import.
5. Select the corresponding Posteo calendar as the target calendar.
6. Confirm the selection with OK.

That’s it! Thunderbird transfers the imported events to your Posteo calendar.

How to manually transfer multiple calendars to Posteo

Do you use multiple calendars and would like to retain your calendar structure with Posteo? Here’s how to import multiple calendars to your Posteo account:

1. For each calendar, create a corresponding calendar at Posteo.
   You can learn how to create additional calendars at Posteo here.
2. Install all calendars into which you would like to import events in a program for calendars like Thunderbird.
3. Follow the instructions in the section How to import a calendar file with a calendar program.
   Important: Select a corresponding target calendar at Posteo for each calendar.
4. Repeat step 3 until all calendars have been imported to the corresponding calendar at Posteo.

Tips & troubleshooting

For login issues, please verify if access via IMAP is allowed for your old address. This is required for importing the calendar. You can find tips for specific providers in the following section.
