How do I take a screenshot on my computer, smartphone or tablet?

How to take a screenshot in Windows 10

  1. Open the Windows Start Menu.
  2. Open the program Snip & Sketch.
  3. Click on New.

Your cursor will turn into a crosshair.

  1. Drag the crosshair by clicking and holding the left mouse button over the area that you would like to capture.
  2. Release the left mouse button.

You will now see your screenshot in a new window. From there, you can save the screenshot on your computer.

How to take a screenshot in Windows 7

  1. Open the Windows Start menu.
  2. Launch the program Snipping Tool found in Windows accessories.
  • Your cursor will transform into a crosshair. If this doesn’t happen, click on New in the Snipping Tool program.
    1. Drag the crosshair by clicking and holding the mouse over the area where you would like to take a screenshot.
    2. Release the mouse button.

    You will now see your screenshot in a new window. You can save the screenshot on your computer from there.

    How to take a screenshot in macOS

    1. Press the cmd and shift(for capital letters) keys on your keyboard at the same time and the number 4.

    Your cursor will transform into a crosshair.

    1. Drag the crosshair by clicking and holding the mouse over the area where you would like to take a screenshot.
    2. Release the mouse button.

    A screenshot of the selected area will be saved on your desktop.

    How to take a screenshot in Linux (Ubuntu)

    1. Click on themenu button in the start menu located in the lower-left.
    2. Search for the Screenshot program and open it.
    3. Select Select area to grab.
    4. Click on Take Screenshot.

    Your cursor will transform into a crosshair.

    1. Drag the crosshair by clicking and holding the mouse over the area where you would like to take a screenshot.
    2. Release the mouse button.
    3. Select where you want to save the screenshot.
    4. Click on Save.

    You will find the screenshot in the selected folder.

    How to take a screenshot on an Android device

    1. Press and hold the on/off button and the volume down button at the same time.
    2. Wait a few seconds until the screen flashes.

    You will find your screenshot in your photos app in the album Screenshots.

    How to take a screenshot on an iPhone, iPad oder iPod

    1. Press the Home button and the on/off button at the same time.
    2. You will see a preview of the screenshot in the bottom-left corner of your screen. Tap on the screenshot.
    3. Tap on Done.

    You will find your screenshot in the Photos app.

    Does your iPhone not have a home button?

    Follow these steps if your iPhone or iPad does not have a home button:

    1. Briefly press and hold the side button on the right side of the device and the volume up button.
    2. You will see a preview of the screenshot in the bottom left corner of the display. Tap on the screenshot.
    3. Tap on Done.

    You will find your screenshot in the Photos app.
