How do I set up an email alias in Apple Mail on my Mac?

In this help article, we show you how you can set up your alias addresses and use them for sending emails in Apple Mail within macOS 10.12 Sierra.

How to set up your email alias in Apple Mail (macOS 10.12 Sierra)

  1. From the menu, click on Mail.
  2. Open the Preferences.

From the the menu in Apple Mail, click on "Mail" and select "Preferences".

  1. Click on Accounts.
  2. Open your Posteo email account.
  3. Click on Account Information.
  4. Click on the dropdown menu next to Email Address.
  5. Click Edit Email Addresses….

Open "Accounts" and select your Posteo address. From "Account Information", click on the drop-down menu next to "Email Address" and then on "Edit Email Address ...".

  1. Click on the small plus sign in the bottom left.
  2. Enter your alias email address beneath email address. If applicable, enter a name that you would like to use as your sender name beneath Full Name.
  3. Confirm these details by clicking on OK.

Add a new address by clicking on the "plus symbol" in the bottom left. Enter your alias address and (if applicable) a sender name. Confirm the changes by clicking on "OK".

  1. You have successfully set up your alias in Apple Mail. You can now select it as the sender when composing an email by clicking on the drop-down menu next to From and selecting the alias.
