Veranstaltung im Posteo-Lab

The Posteo Lab is a place for meetings and events in Berlin’s Kreuzberg. In the lab, you can try out Posteo, add credit and take part in an individual encryption training session. In addition, we display hardware produced in line with sustainability criteria such as the Fairphone and the Fair Mouse. The lab itself is also sustainably set up.

We regularly open the lab for presentations, information sessions, training and cultural events. Information on current events can be found in our events calendar.

Try out Posteo on various devices and get to know our team. You can open your own Posteo account on site.

Discover sustainable products

Discover sustainably produced products like the Fairphone, the fair Mouse or various pieces of furniture made from recycled materials. The Fair Mouse can be purchased here for 29 EUR.

Add credit

Add credit to your Posteo account on site – in cash or with a German EC card. All payment processes are anonymised with the Posteo payment system.

Training

Personal encryption training at Posteo

If you would like to exchange encrypted emails with your contacts but find setting up end-to-end encryption too complicated, this is for you.

In our personal encryption training sessions we offer competent help to set up S/MIME or PGP on your device. In addition, you will learn from us how to use encryption on an everyday basis. Make an appointment with our encryption trainers!

Training includes:

  • General set up of S/MIME or PGP on your device.
  • General set up of S/MIME or PGP on your device.
  • Importing and exchanging keys.

Details:

  • Location: Posteo Lab
  • Duration: 30 to 45 minutes
  • Format: Personal training (no group training)
  • Cost: 29 EUR (pay on site). A drink is included in the price.

Requirements:

  • An email program: Thunderbird (>24.0) or Apple Mail installed on your device.
  • Operating system: Windows version 7, 8, 8.1, Mac OS X version 10.8 or later, or Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.
  • Your device can connect to Wi-Fi and you possess administrator rights.
  • S/MIME or PGP: Please decide beforehand which encryption method you prefer. We provide more information on the differences between S/MIME and PGP on our info site.

Privacy note:

For registration, no personal details are required, just an email address. This is then deleted from our archive after the training session.

Events

We regularly open the Posteo Lab for presentations, information sessions, and training. We also host cultural events, for which we work with our friends from SPHINX ET.

We are happy to make the Posteo Lab available to external parties free of charge. Events should relate to Posteo and topics relevant to us. Please send suggestions for events to: veranstaltungen@posteo.de

    Tech Book Club Berlin in the Posteo Lab

    On the 27th April, there's a Tech Book Club event on analogue books and digital technology. The book club is for those who are curious, interested in technology and passionate about books, who would like to discuss the internet's influence on society with us. The readers meet once each month with a different book to kick off a discussion. In April, we are reading Kim Zetter's book "Zero Day" and speaking about malware, digital attacks and the militarisation of cyberspace.     Cryptoparty for women in the Posteo Lab

    On Wednesday 24th February there will be a cryptoparty for women in the Posteo Lab in Berlin (Kreuzberg). Hosting the event are the hacker girls from Heart of Code. Entry is free, and females with no prior knowledge of encryption are also most welcome. The hackers will be our guests from 7pm. The event begins with two short talks on the topic of encryption. After that, workshop participants will be shown how to communicate securely on the internet and how to be protected from spying by intelligence agencies and advertisers.     Research Lab VI

    The Research Lab (Recherche-Lab) is more than a research seminar. The concept is that the best researchers and experts come together and exchange views on the digital world's newest research methods in an informal, casual atmosphere, with coffee and wi-fi.     Fairphone community event with iDoc: Tearing apart the Fairphone 2

    On the 6th of November from 5 p.m., Fairphone is a guest in the Posteo Lab. The Fairphone team invites its supporters to this community event. From 7 p.m. it will be possible to disassemble the new, modular Fairphone 2. The Fairphone organisation arose out of an NGO campaign that has been critically occupied with conditions in the manufacture of mobile phones since 2010. As well as the working conditions within the manufacturing operations and environmental aspects, consideration is also given to where the raw materials used for mobile phones originate from.

    Visiting group of MP Dieter Janecek, B'90/The Greens

    Each member of the German Federal Parliament can invite three visitor groups per year from their constituency on an informative trip to Berlin. The participants should be politically interested citizens from the respective constituency, who generally should be at least 18 years old. At the suggestion of MP Dieter Janecek of B'90/The Greens, the convention for the politically interested will occur from the 19th to the 22nd of July in Berlin. On the 21st of July, the group will visit the Posteo Lab, to be informed about current developments in Internet privacy.

    Hands-On Demo: Introducing the Fairphone 2 to Germany

    Miquel from Fairphone will be in Berlin to introduce the Fairphone 2 to Germany. Come on down to Posteo Lab and join us as we give a hands-on demonstration of the new Fairphone prototype (yes, keep in mind it’s still a prototype). Fairphone wants to meet with the Berlin community and show you the next step to a fairer phone. Miquel Ballester, responsible for Fairphone’s Product Management & Innovation, will present on the the ins and outs of developing the Fairphone 2. He will give a demonstration of the new device and show you how it can be taken apart so it’s easy to repair. There will be time for you to get involved and ask questions. More informationen >>

    Erstes deutsches Fairphone-Meetup

    Am 18.03. ist Fairphone ab 16 Uhr im Posteo Lab zu Gast - mit einem ganz besonderen Vorhaben. Das Fairphone-Team lädt seine Unterstützer zum ersten deutschen "Fairphone-Meetup" ein und wird einen Kampagnen-Film in unseren Räumen drehen. Im Film sollen Menschen zu Wort kommen, die mit ihrer Unterstützung die Produktion des ersten fairer hergestellten Smartphones ermöglicht haben. Das Fairphone-Team wird um 16 Uhr mit dem Filmen beginnen. Fairphone-Unterstützer können ab 16 Uhr jederzeit vorbeischauen. Gefilmt wird individuell - und die Aufnahmen dauern pro Person nicht mehr als 10-20 Minuten. Nach dem Filmdreh ist ab 18 Uhr ein "Community-Meetup" geplant: Wer nicht vor die Kamera möchte, ist deshalb herzlich dazu eingeladen, im Laufe des Abends auf ein paar Drinks vorbeizuschauen.
